How you could recruit donors to the stem cell register
If you have a busy workplace with a large number of 16 to 30-year-olds, here are some ways you could recruit donors:
- An in-person recruitment stand in the canteen or foyer – we can train you up to run the stand and get your colleagues signed up!
- If there is a graduate or apprenticeship scheme, this can be a great group to target for sign-ups in person or virtually.
- At staff events and training days – if a whole team is coming together, a talk about Anthony Nolan followed by a recruitment event can work really well. If hybrid working patterns mean getting everyone together is a challenge, Letterbox Lifesavers offers you the option to give out swab kits over seven days, and each applicant posts back their own swab kit.
- We have a range of resources you can use to raise awareness through your organisations channels and have a presentation you can give to support recruitment.
Letterbox Lifesavers is an incredibly easy way to support this wonderful charity by increasing the number of people on the register and raising awareness. We’ve had great success with our events, as the charity's mission aligns perfectly with our company values and it’s also a fantastic way to utilise your allocated corporate volunteering days.

Other ways to get involved with Anthony Nolan
Full training is provided and our downloadable resources can be used to support in-person or virtual recruitment.
If you’ve enjoyed volunteering at your workplace event, keep an eye on our volunteering pages to find out more about regular volunteering opportunities.
If your organisation is keen to be more involved, we can talk to you about becoming a Corporate Recruitment Partner.
People will often fundraise as well as recruiting donors, so just let us know when you get in touch if you would like more information on fundraising.
Armed and uniformed services
We’re particularly keen to work with the armed and uniformed services, especially because we know recruitment in these contexts can increase the number of men on the register. Currently, young men make up only 14% of the register, and yet 46% of people who donated last year were young men. Health fairs and training events can be excellent opportunities for us to brief larger groups and run recruitment stands.
To be able to save someone’s life by donating stem cells is a fantastic way of giving something back. The Armed Forces is extremely proud to be able to help Anthony Nolan recruit more lifesaving donors. The knowledge that a recruit from Alexander Barracks has already donated to a stranger, and given them a second chance at life, is a fantastic way of demonstrating that there are many ways of serving one’s country.
