Following the news that those at high risk of Covid – 19 will have access to monoclonal antibody treatments from this week, Henny Braund MBE, Chief Executive of Anthony Nolan, says:
‘We welcome the news that those who are particularly vulnerable to Covid-19 will soon be able to access monoclonal antibody treatments through the NHS with the aim of preventing severe disease. This is positive news for blood cancer patients, who we know are less likely to be protected from Covid-19 vaccines than the wider population. It's particularly important that those who are eligible are able to access this treatment urgently.
‘Anthony Nolan is urging the Government to appoint a dedicated lead for those who are immunocompromised, to provide clear guidance and support to stop patients from being left behind.’
