Wilkinson, the well-known variety retailer, has raised an incredible £1,667,852 for Anthony Nolan, following our hugely successful year-long partnership which started in May last year.
Wilkinson team members took part in running, cycling and zip-sliding fundraising events, whilst in-store they organised a variety of activities including dressing up and face painting. Key suppliers, including P&G, Unilever, Galaxy and Baby Bio, also pledged money.
In addition, 293 members of staff have signed up to the Anthony Nolan register, and Karin Swann, Family Non-Executive Director and joint Chair of Wilkinson, celebrated the end of the partnership by walking 80 miles from Wilkinson Head Office to the Blackpool store over five days.
Swann says, “I’m delighted by how successful the partnership with Anthony Nolan has been, and particularly pleased to see how many of our team were keen to get involved and help smash our £1million target. We think it’s an absolutely fantastic cause, and we hope that the money raised will help Anthony Nolan continue their lifesaving work.”
Lila Dowie, Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager for Anthony Nolan, says, “Our partnership with Wilkinson has exceeded all our expectations. Not only have the Wilkinson team been enthusiastic and easy to work with, but most importantly they’ve really embraced our cause, and the huge amount of money they’ve raised will help us save more lives.”
Although the partnership officially ended at the end of last month, Wilkinson will continue to support Anthony Nolan as one of four charities which they have committed to working with until 2012.
