Telephone Emotional Support

Having a stem cell transplant or CAR T-cell therapy can be very challenging for your mental and emotional wellbeing, as well as your physical recovery.

The Telephone Emotional Support service

We want to make sure that if you have any worries at all, you have someone to talk to. That’s why we’ve developed the free Telephone Emotional Support service specifically for stem cell transplant and CAR T-cell therapy patients and family members, provided by Working to Wellbeing.

How does it work?

You'll be given a number of appointments to talk to a trained professional about whatever’s on your mind, whether that’s feelings you may be experiencing while isolating, or concerns you may be having about the future.

I really benefited from sitting down and talking to someone who was not personally involved. I had underestimated the value of that kind of therapeutic chatting. Sometimes you just need to take a step away from yourself.

Who provides this support?

Working to Wellbeing are a team of wellbeing specialists including qualified psychologists with years of experience providing support for stem cell transplant patients. They also have a comprehensive understanding of CAR T-cell therapy.

That means you won’t need to explain to them what a transplant or CAR T-cell therapy is, or talk through common transplant side effects such as graft versus host disease (GvHD). They will already understand.

How do I apply?

If you think this service might be helpful to you, or you would like to find out more, please email our team to arrange an appointment at: patientinfo@anthonynolan.org

You'll find further information and advice on the mental and emotional challenges of transplant in our Recovery section.

We also have further information on CAR T-cell therapy.
