Charity Fundraising Ideas & Inspiration

Looking for fundraising inspiration? We've got plenty of ideas to get you started!

Introduction

If you’re not sure where to start with your fundraising, then we’re here to help.

Whether you have a fully-fledged master plan, or a rough sketch on a napkin, we want to chat, so get in touch now!

Here are some bright ideas

We have endless ideas to get the ball rolling, try one of these or download the resources below for even more inspiration to begin your lifesaving work.

  1. Host a dinner party - Conjure up a fancy menu and invite friends or family round for dinner. Dress up, play some games and ask guests to donate what they would’ve paid at a restaurant.
  2. Afternoon tea - You provide the tea (or prosecco!) and guests provide the finger sandwiches and cupcakes. Host it at home or in a local hall.
  3. Movie night - Pile up the popcorn and dim the lights for a night of movies. Ask guests to donate the cost of a cinema ticket.
  4. Pub quiz - A classic. Set a date with your local pub and get your heads together. We can provide materials and round inspiration.
  5. Talent contest - Everyone has a secret talent. So let them shine at a talent contest. Hold it in a local pub, community centre, school hall, or your back garden. Ask for donations to attend.

If you like the look of these, head to our fundraising materials page for everything from ‘How To Guides’, to balloons and bunting for decorating.

Keep the momentum going, here's some more ideas!

  • Great Fundraising Bake Off - A perennial favourite! Hold a bake off in the office or with family and friends. Get as competitive as you like with prizes for taste and creativity.
  • Jumble sale - Have a clear out and sell your old clothes, shoes, and random things you don’t use anymore for cash.
  • Raffle - Get in touch with local businesses to ask for raffle prizes, then hold a raffle in the office, or combine with a pub quiz or afternoon tea.
  • Useful skill sale - Handy with face paints, nifty with nail varnish? Offer your skills in return for donations. You might just have people queuing out the door

Here's some inspiration for month-specific fundraising

  • Dry January - Give up alcohol for the whole month and ask people to sponsor you.
  • National Pet Month in April - Furry, scaly and feathered friends can all help to fundraise. We’ve had dogs hosting bucket collections, ‘Name that chicken’ competitions, and even llama farm open days!
  • Sponsored Swimathon in August - Challenge yourself and your friends to see how far you can swim, or in how many pools/lakes/ seas in a month! Have a race or even a relay.
  • Halloween - Have a classic Halloween party at home with donations to attend. Organise a zombie race, or ask colleagues to wear fancy dress for extra donations
