Top tips

Ready to get creative? A top tip is to get your JustGiving page set up, then if people are paying to come to your event or giving you donations they can go straight on there!

I was inspired to draw pet portraits as a fundraiser by the staff in QEUH Glasgow while I was there for my stem cell transplant. I started drawing some family pets to pass the time and put them up on the wall. The staff loved them, so I offered to start drawing their pets and the idea to raise money through this just appeared! I set up a JustGiving page about my Leukaemia journey, Anthony Nolan and my pet portrait idea and raised nearly £300. I completed six pictures whilst in hospital and currently have a waiting list of ten.

Doing something creative has helped me to keep positive and calm. It fills my time with producing something beautiful. Raising much needed funds through this adds an extra feel-good factor for all involved. I have a new purpose!
