Scotmid customers can have their cake and eat it - all for a good cause - blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan.
Scotmid Co-operative reached out to suppliers to support the company’s efforts as part of their year-long partnership with us, which is on target to raise £200,000 by September 2015.
Graham’s Bakery, a family baker based in Dromore, Northern Ireland happily answered the call and have designed an exclusive mini chocolate fudge cupcake pack which will be on sale in 189 Scotmid stores across Scotland until 17th April.
With 20p from every £1 purchase price going to the charity, Tim Graham, Sales & Marketing (aka Cake Creator) at Grahams Bakery hope customers indulge their sweet tooth and feel good about it at the same time,
“We were only too happy to help Scotmid and Anthony Nolan with our handmade goodies to raise money for their important work. Customers can pick up a two pack of mini cupcakes, share and enjoy them in the knowledge that they’re helping give something back at the same time!”
The partnership between Anthony Nolan and Scotmid Co-operative - including its brands Semichem, Lakes & Dales Co-operative and Scotmid Co-operative Funeral Directors - has seen more than 5,000 Scotmid staff at 350 stores transformed into the ‘Scotmid Lifesavers’ in a bid to raise and awareness for the charity. All funds raised will help Anthony Nolan to find matching donors for those who desperately need a stem cell or bone marrow transplant.
The cupcakes are the latest in series of efforts the company have been employing to raise funds and awareness for the charity including in store dress up days, raffles, ice bucket challenges and taking on runs, rides as well as scaling mountains.
Will Connolly, Head of Corporate Partnerships and Special Events at Anthony Nolan, said: “We are very grateful to our wonderful partner Scotmid and their equally wonderful supplier Grahams for this delicious cause related marketing promotion - we hope the cupcakes rush off the shelves! The vital funds we raise from each sale will go towards helping us to save the lives of more people with blood cancer and blood disorders. Thank you Scotmid, Grahams and all the hungry customers!”
John Brodie, Chief Executive of Scotmid Co-operative, said: “We are delighted that one of our suppliers has chosen to support our charity of the year, Anthony Nolan. We have an excellent relationship with Graham’s Bakery and we are immensely proud that they are producing these novelty cupcakes throughout March, raising both funds and awareness for this important cause”.
