Welcome to the Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Centre, located in Nottingham. We are really excited to welcome you to our brand new centre, below are some useful links and information:

Where we are

The Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Centre is hosted within the Clinical Research Facility at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham.

Both medicals and collections are performed in the same unit, and you will be greeted by a member of staff when you arrive at the Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Centre Reception.

How to get here

By road:

The Queen’s Medical Centre is located on the Southwest side of Nottingham.

From the M1 leave at Junction 25 and take the A52 (Brian Clough Way) towards the city centre.

At the roundabout go straight across and the entrance to the hospital will be on the right.

There are several open-air car parks situated around the site, some of which are specifically for staff or Blue Badge holders only.

By tram:

Trams run every 7 minutes during peak times.

There is a bridge connecting the Queen’s Medical Centre tram stop to the B Floor level of QMC.

Navigating the hospital

From the tram bridge:

Follow signs to Queen’s Medical Centre bridge not Treatment Centre. Enter QMC over the tram bridge and then turn immediately right towards South Block. Follow the corridor to the end where you can turn right and find the lifts. Take the lift up to E floor. Exit the lifts by turning left and following the corridor and the signs round until you see the entrance to the Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Centre and Clinical Research Facility. Inside the reception a member of our team will be waiting for you.

From south block entrance:

Enter south block and you will find yourself in the lift lobby, the walls will be green. Take the lift up to E floor. Exit the lifts by turning left and following the corridor and the signs round until you see the entrance to the Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Centre and Clinical Research Facility. Inside the reception a member of our team will be waiting for you.

From the main entrance:

To the right of the reception desk, take the corridor straight ahead towards South Block. Yellow dots on the floor will indicate you are on the central route. You will reach the tram entrance. Here turn left and follow the corridor to the end where you can turn right and find the lifts. Take the lift up to E floor. Exit the lifts by turning left and following the corridor and the signs round until you see the entrance to the Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Centre and Clinical Research Facility. Inside the reception a member of our team will be waiting for you.

Lights meals, drinks and snack will be provided for you during your appointment at the Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Centre. There are also a number of food outlets within Queen’s Medical Centre including:

Eatwell restaurant, D Floor, West Block, 7.30am-2.30pm, Mon-Fri

Useful information

The unit is open plan and has a total of 6 beds. When you go for your medical and donation you will see a mix of other donors donating their live saving stem cells.

Pre-medical: Ensure you’re well hydrated and have eaten. You’ll be offered hot and cold beverages on the day and refreshments, if required.  

Pre-collection (PBSC): Ensure you’re well hydrated 1-2 days prior. If you have any bone pain/headaches from the G-CSF injections, you can take pain relief. If you’re unsure what to take, please speak to your coordinator. 

You’ll be offered hot and cold drinks on the day. Light refreshments are available on the unit, and a sandwich lunch will be provided by the hospital catering team. Any dietary requirements should be able to be accommodated.  

Donors, patients and visitors can access free wifi by connecting to ‘NHS Free Wifi’ on their device.
