A community choir from St. Ives in Cambridgeshire is raising vital funds for blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan. The choir is holding a concert on Saturday 4th October at 7.30 in The Free Church, Market Hill, St. Ives, with hopes to raise £300 for Anthony Nolan’s lifesaving work.

Choir members decided to hold the event because their Musical Director, Hazel Terry, heard a talk about the amazing work which Anthony Nolan does at her school. As a result she registered to become a potential donor and hopes now that the concert will both promote the charity & raise vital funds.

The choir members are really pleased to be supporting a charity which does such valuable work and are busy rehearsing every Monday evening in the lead up to their October concert of songs from such popular composers as Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Supertramp and Simon & Garfunkel.

Tickets for this fundraising event are available from The Free Church shop: Just Sharing and at the door on the night priced £5 & £2.50 for children. There will be refreshments and a raffle to raise even more towards saving lives.

Nancy Gray, Community Coordinator at Anthony Nolan, said: ‘The fundraising that St. Ives Community Choir is doing makes such a big difference to people with blood cancer. It costs £100 to recruit each person to the Anthony Nolan register, so fund raising is a vital part of our lifesaving work.

The more fundraising we do, the more potential donors we can recruit onto the bone marrow register, and the more lives we can save.’
