We’re delighted to announce that Anthony Nolan supporter Kas Basra has won a LABA Women’s Award. The aim of the awards is to recognise outstanding and unsung heroines who have made a special contribution to the Leicestershire community.

Ann O’Leary, Head of Register Development at Anthony Nolan, says, “We’re absolutely over the moon to hear that Kas has won this award – we can’t think of a more deserving recipient. Ever since her husband Rik was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2009, Kas has worked night and day to raise awareness of bone marrow donation and the need for more Asian bone marrow donors.

“Whether it’s organising recruitment events or giving media interviews, Kas takes everything in her stride and the impact she has had on our work is truly phenomenal. Hundreds of Leicestershire residents have joined the Anthony Nolan bone marrow register as a result of Kas’ campaign, any one of whom could help save the life of someone like Rik – an incredible achievement for one woman.”
