People in England aged 16 and over who live with an adult who is immunocompromised, including those with blood cancer and blood disorders, should be prioritised for their vaccine according to the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).
After the news was revealed Henny Braund, CEO at Anthony Nolan, said:
“We are delighted that people living with anyone who is immunosuppressed will also be prioritised for a Covid-19 vaccine.
“We've been calling for this for many weeks and the JCVI must now look urgently at bringing forward the timing of 2nd vaccine doses for people who are immunosuppressed to provide as much protection as possible.
“Given a recent study indicated that the Covid-19 vaccine is not as effective for blood cancer patients, this is a really important step forward in protecting patients.”
