Anthony Nolan has defied a poor year for voluntary giving to boost its voluntary net income 58% to £3.2 million.
Key areas of fundraising growth were Individual Giving, which grew by 88% as we increased our base of regular givers recruited via telemarketing and door to door, while we also received our largest ever Trust grant of £619,000 from the Jack Petchey Foundation.
Corporate income also performed strongly, with the landmark Charity of the Year partnership with Wilkinson smashing the original £1million target to raise £1.6million, after staff members took part in running, cycling and zip-sliding events and organised a variety of in-store activities. Key Wilkinson suppliers also ran major Cause Related Marketing campaigns in aid of us.
Catherine Miles, Director of Fundraising, said, “We’re absolutely delighted with our achievements, particularly as it’s been a tough year for the sector as a whole. Our strategy over the last two years has been to invest in Individual Giving, Trust and Major Gifts and Corporate fundraising, and the figures prove that this has paid off.”
She adds, “We’re aware that this is only the start – our team will continue to aim for substantial year on year net income growth from all income streams, to deliver the charity’s goal of doubling the number of lives it saves from blood cancer. It costs £100 to add every person to the Anthony Nolan stem cell register so we know that the more money we can raise, the more lives we can save – that’s a very powerful inspiration for supporters.”
