You could save the life of someone like Terry

After his diagnosis of acute myeloid leukaemia, Terry and his family, including his daughter Jess and grandson Jasper, urged people to join the register, in the hope that someone would be his lifesaving match.

Although we were unable to find Terry his match, his medical team were confident that a donation from his son, who is based in Canada, would be a suitable treatment option.

Terry’s son travelled to Washington, USA, to donate his stem cells, before one of our incredible Anthony Nolan couriers travelled there, collected the stem cells and brought them back to Terry, who received them 24 hours later.

Whilst he and his family know the recovery process will be a long one, everything is looking positive. Terry and his family are continuing to urge everyone eligible to join the register. Jess says;

“Although we weren’t able to find my Dad’s match in the short time frame we were given, we are so thankful to everyone who joined our campaign and signed up, and I hope someone else’s lifesaving match will have been found as a result. The work that was put in by hospitals and Anthony Nolan to enable my brother to donate to my Dad and give him a second chance at life has been phenomenal. I had never heard of the stem cell register before this hit our family. Please help raise awareness by sharing and empowering others to join so no one has to hear “there is no match for you” in the future.”
